External Spline Output Shaft Manufacturing
This external spline output shaft is manufactured to customer drawings for power-transmission assemblies. The cold-forged spline transfers torque to a mating component, while the machined diameters and datum features control how the shaft locates and runs in the assembly. Each project is reviewed against its released drawing instead of a fixed catalogue specification.

- Material: Medium-carbon alloy steel with specified tensile strength of 780–930 N/mm².
- Spline forming: Cold forging for the external spline.
- Machining: Turning and milling for the specified shaft features.
- Heat treatment: Induction hardening.
- Hardness: HRC 50–55.
- Dimensional control: Outer-diameter tolerance within 10 μm and inner-diameter tolerance within 8 μm.
Manufacturing process
Process planning starts with the drawing, material standard, spline definition, datum system and critical fit requirements. The external spline is cold forged, after which turning and milling establish the required diameters, shoulders, faces and other machined geometry. Induction hardening is applied according to the released heat-treatment requirement. The final sequence and machining allowances are confirmed from the drawing so that the hardened area, spline relationship and controlled diameters can be inspected as one part program.
Heat treatment and functional control
Induction hardening provides the specified HRC 50–55 hardness for this component. The customer should identify the required hardened zone, transition area and any features that must be protected from treatment. Inspection planning
Final inspection follows the approved drawing and can include the external spline, outside and inside diameters, datums, runout or related geometric controls, hardness and surface requirements where specified. Required sampling, dimensional reports, material certificates and heat-treatment records should be included in the inquiry.
